HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE basebalL PITCHING

Scouts. Velocity.

The increase in throwing velocity at the collegiate and professional level is no random occurrence.  With analytical methods taking over collegiate and professional front offices, advanced throwing velocity is no longer a supplemental feature. Higher throwing velocity is a requirement to play high-level baseball.

A college coach will take a player who throws 92MPH and teach them to throw accurately, throw breaking balls, field efficiently, and find them a spot on the field to be successful!  A college coach is less likely do the same for a player who throws 72MPH and imagine they can help them increase their speed by 20MPH. If you don’t hit the velocity level a college scout is looking for, then your chance to be looked at or considered decreases drastically.

Recruiting platforms such as showcase events and college camps are designed for coaches to see athletes' specific skills.  What this means is they are looking for raw hard data to evaluate you as a player. The rest of your characteristics as a player will be later evaluated.

Player/Prospects are graded by professional scouts on five tools:  Speed, Fielding, Hitting for Power, Hitting for Average, and Arm Strength.

Arm strength is an enormous tool for any and all positions.   Athletes train and prepare for 4 of these tools most of their baseball lives.  Take a guess which tool is left to chance… VELOCITY!   You owe it to yourself to develop this overlooked tool.

When you give me the opportunity, I will help you understand what all collegiate and professional pitchers do to become and sustain success on the mound,  by:

     · proper conditioning

     · implementing sound nutrition

     · incorporating strengthening weight exercises

     · providing you with take-home workouts

     · improving mechanics

     · teaching you ways to reduce the risk of injury

     · developing a positive mindset on the mound

     · mastering a repertoire of different pitches

Overall, you will improve your game and pitch faster, harder, and more accurate, in other words, become the best you can be!
