Youth Pitching: Ages 9-14 baseball lessons

My Philosophy: Good habits learned early make all the difference.

Throughout your Youth Pitching Lessons I will provide the information and tools you will need to become a great pitcher.

From experience, building a solid foundation and having a strong understanding of the fundamentals can take you a long way.

Youth Baseball Pitching Mechanics:

  • Youth baseball pitchers have a shorter stride length than elite pitchers
  • Youth baseball pitchers land in a more open position than elite pitchers
  • Youth baseball pitchers shoulder is too far “layback” early in their delivery when the foot plant occurs compared to elite pitchers
  • Youth baseball pitchers have less separation of their hip and shoulder

How to Enhance Pitching Performance:

  1. Develop the ability to separate hips and shoulders.  This will help land in a more closed position and increase the ability to transfer the force from the legs to the arm and eventually to the ball.
Mobility of the hips and spine is a key factor in developing separation, along with core stability.
  2. Develop a linear and rotational power towards the plate. The body is inherently strong moving forward and back, and not as much moving sideways or rotating, which is why it is essential to develop linear and rotation power.
  3. Develop lower body drive and intent down the mound, The Delivery. The results are increased stride length and the ability to land in a more closed position.

A Message for Parents:

While there are not many pitching programs that are age-appropriate and safe for kids 9 through 14, there are various techniques and drills, that in addition to including a proper arm care program, will provide young pitchers with effective guidelines for strength training, improving pitching mechanics, and how to pitch faster.

Whether you are looking to help your child develop better pitching mechanics, build a stronger arm, or throw more strikes, I have the tools and proper advice to give, in simple, easy-to-understand pitching tips and drills, so you can witness your child become a dominant and well-rounded pitcher.

Let’s maximize your performance while minimizing the risk of injuries!
